GUIDELINES FOR SPONSORING A NEW MEMBER

Club members sponsoring new applicants are asked to review the following:

A club member may propose one new applicant each year.  The member is to have known the applicant for at least 2 years.  Please discuss with the Membership committee if an exception to this rule is being requested.

The club member is expected to review the following Club expectations with their applicant:

Annual dues are $70.00.
Attend General Meetings – held the 3rd Thursday of most months.
Participate in flower arranging for Meals on Wheels prior to Easter,
Thanksgiving and Christmas.
Assist with delivery of Meals on Wheels large floral arrangements.
Be willing to participate on committees or special projects.

TIMELINE FOR SPONSORS and NEW APPLICANTS

The Membership Committee must receive applications before year end.
Applications are reviewed by the Board of Directors each January.
Sponsors and the new applicants will be contacted after the Board Review.
Applicants are presented as new members at the AGM in March.
Sponsors are asked to introduce their new members at meetings and help familiarize them with club activities.

New Member Orientation and Timeline

New member welcome letter is emailed to each new member by March 1st.
The March Bulletin recognizes our new club members.
AGM – new members are invited as guests of the Club and will be introduced at the luncheon.
At the Easter Meals on Wheels event there will be a “New Member” table hosted by the President, Vice President, and seasoned Members to encourage and mentor new members in the making of flower arrangements for the meal trays.
A P R I L
New Member Orientation “Coffee” Meeting – The Board and committee chairs host this complimentary coffee for the new members. They are strongly encouraged to attend to learn about the Garden Club programs, projects and committees.
M A Y
The Annual Field Trip (for members only) to local gardens and a plant nursery is a popular event.
J U N E
Our Annual Garden Tour & Luncheon is an opportunity to see some of Vancouver’s private spectacular gardens, often belonging to our members.

Thanksgiving Meals on Wheels.

Christmas Meals on Wheels Event & Serendipity.
