Annual Field Trip Each May

On May 31, 2018 we visited  the Sunshine Coast Botanical Garden and two private gardens near Roberts Creek.

The Sunshine Coast Botanical Garden is a 40 acre former tree farm with a variety of natural habitats. It is a work in progress and the volunteers play an essential role. Our walking tour took us by a rhodo path, a dragonfly pond, gardens with native plants, a rainforest platform, a rainforest grove, their Events Lawn, ending at the Pavilion Gardens.

Always an opportunity to learn something new.Although these pretty red dots attached to this leaf  are intriguing at first glance, our tour guide explained they they should not be there because they are a fungus!

2 SPECTACULAR Private Gardens near Sechelt on the Sunshine Coast

The first is a quiet, peaceful, shaded garden with a ‘babbling brook’ running through it. Delightful!

We then walked through the woods and entered Spectacular Garden #2.

Leaving the shady pathway we entered a bright sunny orchard, the main feature being an impressive wall of espaliered trees, complemented by charming surprises throughout the garden around the house.
